Bringing the Ritz-Carlton Project to Life in Pennsylvania: A Testament to Creativity and Collaboration
Transforming a client’s vision into reality is at the heart of what we do at Magma Build Studios. Our latest project for the Ritz-Carlton Residence in Pennsylvania was no exception—a beautiful marriage of luxury and precise craftsmanship, where every detail was meticulously planned and executed.
The client approached us with a bold concept: a marble waterfall table that would serve as a striking centerpiece on a rooftop terrace, surrounded by a lush sculpture garden. The challenge was clear: create a piece that not only captured the essence of their vision but also stood up to the elements of Philadelphia’s varied climate.
The initial concept, sketched out by the client, was a blend of inspiration and practicality. They envisioned a powder-coated metal framework for the table, topped with a solid surface material like Corian to create a sleek, waterfall edge. The table needed to incorporate a planter and water trough, with the added complexity of housing a recycling water feature that would operate independently of a water line. Behind this stunning façade, a hidden ‘box’ would house the necessary equipment, with an access panel discreetly integrated into the design.
As we moved from concept to reality, our team at Magma Build Studios utilized our design and fabrication process, ensuring that every detail aligned with the client’s vision. We explored various material options that could provide the luxurious, marble-like appearance desired, while also offering the durability needed to withstand Philadelphia’s climate. The final design featured a meticulously crafted metal box framework, expertly finished to replicate the elegance of marble. This design not only met the aesthetic goals but also ensured the structure’s longevity and functionality. The custom hydraulics and electrical systems were then seamlessly integrated into the design, bringing the water feature to life without compromising the table’s sleek and refined look.
The garden sculptures, another key element of the project, were integrated seamlessly with the surroundings, creating a harmonious blend of natural and man-made beauty. The use of pavers on a grid system provided the perfect base for these pieces, making installation straightforward and efficient.
What began as a rough sketch on an iPad evolved into a stunning reality, thanks to the collaboration between our team and the client. The result was a rooftop terrace that not only serves as a functional space but also as a testament to the power of creative vision and expert craftsmanship.
